I used the CMYK color mode for this demo cover.
I was just practising but, ended up enjoying it.

the problem here is the movie is not planned for release until May 2007 sometime.............and NK is still negotiating her contract............so, the front image is a pile of poo.......... a hit and miss affair. (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/8824.gif)

What the difference betwen CMYK and the RGB, can you show a preview of the same cover with the RGB or can that not be done. Sorry if it's a daft question, but if I don't ask I won't never know.

Looks good even without the N

RGB vs CMYK in one sentence (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/tongue2.gif) Your having a laugh piggy m8.

Here goes;

The human eye focuses reflected light onto an area on the back of the eye called the fovea, this is coated in photoreceptors which can be broken down into two types, cones and rods. The cones are spectrally sensitive to stimulae of 3 ranges, red green and blue, whilst the rods provide us with scoptic vision (depth perception, as a quick analogy). Since humans precieve colour through this biological mechanism we explain our experience of colour in terms of values of red green and blue light. Since we ad light to darkness to see colour we call RGB an additive light source. In the absence of a light source there is no colour. Conversly in order to render colour to a substrate (in this case paper) we start with light (white background) and must block the refelction of light with a pigment (ink or toner) in order to change the reflected propoerties of the light we percive. The Cyan, Magenta and Yellow colour space is used to produce colour in print since it's secondary colours are red, green and blue.

and...since even I' bored writing now if you want to know more let me know and I'll mail you a copy of my book in the subject.

I have a simliar question. Since printers use cmyk to reproduce what we see on the screen,would doing something in cmyk give a better example of the final printed copy? Its something i've wondered about for a while.

Maybe this is to personal what do you guys do that you get access to this stuff? I always figured graphic artist but i wouldn't think they'd get access to some of this stuff.

I printed out a mini front cover on my die sub printer once. The color accuracy is alot closer than my inkjet. One day i want a full sized die sub. Of course the newer color laser stuff is pretty nice too. Much more affordable now also.

I work on a Mac, and the default setting is for CYMK. Is that why my covers look so much better than print, if so can I sync the printer, seems I should be able, no???

Just in case anyone was about to upload a cover in CMYK to test a print or whatever....
Don't bother as the gallery does not support CMYK. It will upload ok but will not be visable to view!!!

Thank you (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/thumb.gif)

Oh! and K not a bad start to the cover.
