This will be a great cover when finished.

Good start.

Some tips/ideas:

I like the note Idea, I used the same concept on my "Prison Break" cover. What I did wrong there, was that I didn't made it realistic enough. So did you. Points you may want to check out:

Make some holes in them. I mean on the left side so you could stick some rings trough them (Don't know how to explain it in english else)

Also, a text doesn't start at the far side of a piece of paper. It has some space. Many of the times there's also a vertical pink/red/blue line drawn so you know where to start your sentence

And maybe you could "print" the image in the note. Or "tape" it on the note. That would look way may cooler in my opinion;)

Do what you like with these tips;)

Nice looking cover so far.

IPB
The key to faking out the parents is the clammy hands. It's a good non-specific symptom; I'm a big believer in it. A lot of people will tell you that a good phony fever is a dead lock, but, uh... you get a nervous mother, you could wind up in a doctor's office. That's worse than school. You fake a stomach cramp, and when you're bent over, moaning and wailing, you lick your palms. It's a little childish and stupid, but then, so is high school.

yeah i know about the realistic stuff, i'll try to make it...

yeah also been planing to put that ring stuff in too.

i haven't decided what to do with the image yet. I'll maybe "stick it" or just leave it. don't know yet.

I would get an image of some paper put the text on it (as you would write normally, not so high and near the edge) and crumple it a little. Make sure you copy the text layer and hide it just in case it doesn't work out. Also make the text a multiply layer so it takes on the texture of the background (paper).

I think if you are looking at the back as though it is lying down flat then you don't need to "tape" the picture to the paper. But I would give it a photo edge border.

Great looking front (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/8834.gif) just a bit of work needed on the back.

(IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/8834.gif) Good cover and comments so far.

Being a traditionalist, sometimes a scan is needed to get those realistic look, especially for texture and so on.

Also i think the title should maybe be better bottom left?

(IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/8824.gif) Yeah paper is a good start. Like lulubelle said, a bit too crumpled.

Also, (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/chin.gif) are the edges suposed to be torn? I don't get the feeling they are. I hope you don't think i'm being too picky.

I could have sworn I uploaded a Mr. Ripley to the old site (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/shrug.gif) I'll have a scout around my back up discs see what i find.

Looking forward to the something new!!!

no they aren't suposed to be torn. they have to be "wrong" because wheare didi you ever see a note paper with perfect edges (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/8834.gif)

Sorry itís been a while, how is it coming along?

In regards to the edges then, maybe the edges are a little 'over' done.

All I can suggest is to get a piece of note paper and crumple it up. Have a look at what you are trying to create. The lines wouldn't be straight; they would be crumpled with the paper.

I have scanned a piece for you. Maybe this will help: Crumpled Paper
