*EDIT thread title CAPTURING*

Images would be used to print as DVD labels.

The only way I know of is with PowerDVD but the quality isn't high enough.

Any help would be appreciated.

Wasn't sure where to post this request so move if needed.

I heard that BS Player captures high res stills. I have no idea how to use it, as I don't have it, but it might be worth trying. I think you can download a free trial.

Cheers I'll have a look.

It's just so I can add a title over the top of the image, nothing too complex.

I'll give it a shot aswell. Guess that's quite straightforward to do?

Also, any idea why you lose quality when changing a .BMP file to a .JPG?

The programs capture at the native resolution of the DVD, probably 720 x 480, anything beyond that is gonna look none too clever, having said that, I have seen some quite nice captures not too great but nice. If you can rip the DVD to your HDD you could use virtualdubmod to step through the film frame by frame till you find what you are looking for..

Yes it is easy to do you just have to get into the configurations and save to bitmap instead of jpeg i tried this using power DVD and found the quailty worse than nero showtime and as Myers said with the program he was using nero is the same pause and hit the step button to get the frame you want
Hope this helps

So PowerDVD probably captures the image in the highest quality available. Usually just over 1MB in bitmap format.

Thanks again to everyone BTW.

Only read this after my previous post.

Can I finally ask what file size the images are roughly?

Size doesn't really make a diference if the quality ain't there it aint there try capturing an image and blowing it up and you will see what i mean.
