I seem to encounter problems sometime when printing out some covers, and i have tested on a variety of printers, it happens when covers are very dark and the text is slightly greytoned, ihave the right ICC profiles so what can i do to ensure better clarity ???? ""seems like one kind of black color tricks the printers

I have 2 canon printers Pixma ip4000 & ip5000 i have used HP everyday paper in the ip5000 and it was a huge problem so now all i use is Canon high resolution paper for printing DVD covers and Canon photo paper plus glossy for printing my photos which i have 3 digitial camera,s all Canon I never have any problems with printing black with any of these papers Have you got into the property,s of your printer and changed the setting to what paper you are useing as this does make a big difference.
Hope i was of some help
And sorry i have never had an Epson printer to comment on them

I use the epson R800 & was getting darker prints, so I downloaded updated drivers from epson website and select the ICM setting (the box underneath "no colour adjustment should be left unticked) and my prints have been a lot better since then.
I also noticed that i get better quality using matte photo paper.
