Decided to give it another try, so here's my second custom cover.
Comments, critique? Say what you think, I can take it.. (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/yellow.gif)
And I would also like some tips on making a credit block - what font and what should be in it? (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/chin.gif)

Plans so far:
  • Edit the layout of the spine a little (and add more gradient from black-pink, you now see the edges..)
  • Add Sony logo on the spine (if I can find one..)
  • Add credit block

Thanks:

Here is an example of a straightforward credit block:

(IMG:http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/8996/credits0sj.jpg)

The font used here is "Steelfish"

Things to note on here:

The text is set to "small caps", so that no lower case letters are used.

There is practically NO punctuation.

The paragraph setting is "centred"

Contractually, some stars' names will appear before the title.

The director's name often appears last.

This is a fairly simple style, in which the smaller text appears on one line. There are more complicated styles, where these appear on two lines. Some great fonts to do that can be found HERE, but I would practice with the simple one first until you get the hang of it.

Hope that helps. (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/8824.gif) (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/thumb.gif)

PS - just noticed a small typo in the credits - that's the other thing you have to watch!! (IMG:http://www.hirescovers.net/forum/style_emoticons/default/ashamed.gif)

Colourfull. Except the three pics on the back look a little flat in colour. Try and rich them up a bit. wonder what the text would look like in black instead of white. good otherwise.

agreed...great start.
if your using photoshop take the 3 pics on the back and do a manual level balance on them and you'll see them come alive, it'll get rid of that dull haze.

cheers
