I've been making covers for quite a while, but nothing that I'd be willing to share (quality is SHITE compared to the awesome stuff I find here), but most of what I do starts off with the scanner (yet another reason you won't find my covers here!).

I've got a ton of ideas and I'd really like to make them reality, but I need some help getting started.

Where do you guys and gals find you HI RES source material?
Also, PhotoShop is obviously a very powerful and useful tool, but I haven't the slightest idea how to use most of it's features and it's a somewhat intimidating piece of software.
Where can I find some good guides for newbies (free would be nice...)?

TIA!

I must admit, i'm much the same - I have the concept in my head but the finished product is always very basic looking, boring and un-attractive.

Thanx for the links - time for some reading me thinks!
