First off, hello! Another noob to the custom cover world here. Stumbled upon custom covers just randomly searching for more 'Halloween' stuff and happened upon a few covers I really wanted for myself. Discovered that I had to get a subscription to one of these custom sites and HiRes looked like it had the best selection, so here I am. Before I purchase subscription I'd like a little help in printing the covers I had in mind. First, I do not have a way of printing them myself, so, where would be a good place to do so? Staples, maybe? Also, when I have them printed, what type of paper should I have them printed on? Appreciate any help and advice.

Hi, and welcome to the custom cover world 8834.gif I would think any printing shop would be able to print the covers. As for paper, a medium weight gloss paper is best. I personally use a brand called Mirror, 190gsm gloss. It's a good price and has good results. I hope that helps.

Hey, thanks so much for the response/help. I would assume if I go to a print shop, I could just request that paper? I was talking with a friend last night who has some experience printing covers and he said the "regular" Blu-ray cases are 5mm. If I just tell the people at the print shop that, will they know the correct sizing?

Again, thank you for any help. Terribly excited to see these printed out and on the shelf.

I am sure you could just ask for it to be printed on glossy paper 8834.gif All the covers are made so you can just print them out, to the correct size automatically. There are a couple of different sized BluRay cases. Generally one for the US (12.5mm spine) and one for Europe (11mm spine). So you would need to download the appropriately sized cover.

I.e
3118x1748 (143 spine) (1,2,3 Disc) Viva Elite 12.5mm Case (US Standard)
or
3173x1762 (127px spine) Vortex 11mm Case (Europe Standard)

And you're welcome 8824.gif

There are however, many different sizes of cases, but the two above are the most common. A full list of available sizes can be found in the Upload Rules

Okay, yea, I think I'd seen the size 3118x1748 mentioned somewhere here when I was scouring for some info.

One last question; I'd seen a lot of members talking about printing via Photoshop (which I have, but never learned to really use). Now, am I okay printing the covers as JPEGs or should I save them as a different type of file through PS?

Nope, you can just print them directly from PhotoShop. Just make sure the print settings aren't set to 'Scale to fit media' and that you print in Portrait. The jpg's are sized exactly right to print as they are at 300 dpi 8834.gif

Printing from PS is easiest by far. Simply open the jpeg and hit

Cmd+P if you're on Mac, Ctrl+P for PC. thumb.gif

I don't own any kind of printer, unfortunately. I was just asking about Photoshop in case saving and printing in the JPEG format was going to cost me any kind of quality and maybe I could save it to PS as a PNG or something.

The download will be fine to print straight off, without any sort of conversion 8834.gif
