My Favorite Cover Designer:
All HiRes designers

This weeks featured designer is Fidi!

Please join us in celebrating Fidi by posting one or more of your favourite covers he's made thus far.

It doesn't matter if the cover has already been posted by someone else.

It really is difficult to pick just three covers from this custom artist, as he has made so many beautiful covers. For me Fidi has always made great covers, but they just get better and better.

Click here to see Fidi's uploads in our cover gallery

To share a cover from the gallery, just click the 'copy' icon, in the file information, and paste it into your reply.

Here are three of my favourites:

Valerian And The City of A Thousand Planets (2017)

Prometheus (2012)

Independence Day (1996)

Fidi has a tremendous talent for creating designs that people love.

When it comes to big covers for big movies, Fidi is the guy. 8834.gif

His sheer craftsmanship and almost magical image treatment on Prometheus immediately comes to mind:

If I remember correctly, Kong - Skull Island was a huge sensation throughout Fidi's WIP thread here, and is probably the first cover that comes to mind when I think of his designs. Plus, it got even better when paired with his new Godzilla II cover (and hopefully further additions in the future. wink.gif)

As powerful as his collage builds are, Fidi is also masterful at creating individual images that really pack a punch, like with Sully:

This one i believe is my favorite Fidi cover (so far). I've seen all the work he put in to make this cover possible and I was truly amazed. To even think about all the details and getting them to fit with the cover, simply amazing.

The front on this one is really good, but what stands out the most for me is the excellent composition on the back. How you managed to work in fighting scenes from all three films in such a superb fashion is beyond me. Another truly stunning Fidi cover.

All around a brilliant cover, it shows how good you are at managing different styles. It has a great composition on the front with a fantastic TT and many elements fitting in perfectly. There's no slacking on the back either. Also excellent work with the colors on this one, i must say.

Looking forward to seeing many more amazing Fidi covers in the future wink.gif

I echo everything everyone has said about Fidi, great artists and one of the best at creating amazing composites!

I really like his King Arthur cover, that hint of blue really makes the cover pop and the layout is simple but so effective.

Hey Bazzah! At some point, can you pick a Designer of the Week who makes it easier to choose three amazing covers?!?! Every week it's a dang chore to narrow down these outstanding portfolios to "just a few." Fidi's gallery doesn't have a single sub-par cover in the bunch! 8824.gif 8824.gif 8824.gif

Zodiac
One of my all-time favorite movies and Fidi just nails this cover with a simple, striking, and moody image of a shattered and grungy Zodiac brand watch. It's an extremely clever use of an important plot point that I haven't seen featured in any other fan art for this film. Gorgeous use of muted colors and subtle textures make this an incredible companion to (in my opinion) Fincher's most sophisticated and underrated film.

The Lion King
Warm, beautiful hues of a sunset and outstanding arrangement of clear, detailed imagery make this one of the most elegant covers for an animated film that I've ever seen. I'd write more about it, but it's difficult to endlessly elaborate when the word "perfect" sort of sums it up. 8824.gif

Jurassic Park
Watching this cover develop in WIP was a pure treat. It's easy to assume that most covers are assembled from studio promo materials and stock resources, but when you see how someone builds their own elements from scratch, it's truly astonishing. Fidi is someone who knows his elements and principles of design, with particularly refined skills in color, texture, layout, and typography.

Congratulations on Designer of the Week, Fidi! Well deserved! 8824.gif 8824.gif 8824.gif

One of my favorite designers, a good friend and adviser 8834.gif

My favs are:

I simply love the whole imagery and the pedestrian-looking-up-in-the-air POV, as well as the moody, slightly unsettling color palette. Could be an official teaser or regular one-sheet as well. And let's not forget that beautiful crafted reflection in the building on the right side.

Outstanding design with these "never seen before" vibes for this title. Will Smith looks totally badass in front of the crashed alien ship, right after the memorable "Welcome to earth!" scene. And the action doesn't stop on the back.

Usually not a big fan of collages because they can quickly look botchy and scream "patchwork" all over if the different elements are not put together well. This is definitely not the case with your Matrix cover: Everything looks placed thoughtfully, there's a good size contrast (elements becoming smaller from top to bottom) and the skin tones are perfectly matched. I also dig the two-part style on the back with the orb ball as a nice popping element.

With his extraordinary talent, Fidi has quickly developed from a nobody to a truly great designer. In my opinion, he is the best german designer I know. My personal favorite of his covers (Iron Sky) does not exist here, but I personally like this cover best of all his works, whereby (apart from "Valerian") I like his older designs better than the current ones. My favorites here would be:

Unconscious of what he does with the pictures. It is always a pleasure to watch your new work.
It would be great if the Alien series was also done in Covenant style.
These are my personal favorites:
